Ethelbert Residential Services

Fourteen children's homes meeting a variety of complex needs

Red Lodge Children's Home near Folkestone in KentSince its conception in 1972, Ethelbert Childrens Services has acquired and sustained an enviable reputation in the delivery of quality child care, and it is on these foundations that the service has grown to include fourteen children's homes in its residential division. The majority of the homes are provisions for three children or young people, whereas others are sufficiently spacious to accommodate between four and nine residents.

The philosophy and culture across our homes focuses on basic family values and socially acceptable behaviours, within a structure of clear, well defined and consistent boundaries. Furthermore, each provision has an individual, clearly defined statement of purpose that serves to meet the needs of its particular client group, thereby enabling us to provide appropriate placements for a diverse range of needs and requirements.

Each home is appointed to a high standard and adequately equipped and furnished to fulfil the many requirements of comfortable, twenty-first century living.

Most of our children's homes are situated in carefully selected residential environments, where our children and young people can integrate Hillview Children's Home Near Faversham in Kentinto local communities and access the services associated with such areas. By contrast, we have one rurally located children's home that provides intensive support and supervision for up to four young people whose presenting issues of concern are better met in in a more remote, closely supervised setting. This provision, set in extensive grounds, has a manager with considerable experience of working with challenging behaviour and a cohesive, committed team that provides opportunities to those who would otherwise find it difficult to engage positively in an urban location.
